The first thing to know is that you're not alone in the effort to control diabetes.

"When I was first diagnosed, I felt like I'd landed on Mars and no one was speaking any English. I sure would be grateful for any suggestions."

Like anyone, you lead a busy life. You have your share of responsibilities and even dreams you want to pursue. What's different is that now you also have to manage your diabetes. And, as the saying goes, that's easier said than done. Finding time to exercise, eating the right foods, and keeping a close eye on your blood sugar can be more than inconvenient. At times it can even seem overwhelming - especially if you're having trouble controlling your blood sugar.

We - the physicians and medical professionals of Taking On Type 2 Together - understand how frustrating type 2 diabetes can be and that you may have unanswered questions about your condition and its treatment. In the big picture, that's why we're conducting this clinical study. We're hoping to help make it a little easier for people to live with type 2 diabetes.

What exactly are clinical studies?

Clinical studies are an important part of the development of medical treatments. They are designed to test the safety and effectiveness of investigational treatments before they are approved. To do this, the investigational treatment may be compared to the current standard of care, to an inactive substance, or to some other form of treatment. People only participate in clinical studies if they want to and they can stop participating at any time.

What is this study about?

Right now, more people in America than ever before have type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, it's often hard for those who do not have the condition to understand all the day-to-day problems faced by those who do. Sometimes, even family members can forget how difficult it can be to maintain a steady sugar level.

Taking On Type 2 Together is a clinical study designed to determine the safety and effectiveness of an investigational treatment for type 2 diabetes. Participants receive study-related care from physicians who understand the needs of people with type 2 diabetes. So, this study is working to provide information and answers - both for people with type 2 diabetes and for the advancement of medical science.
